Course Description:
In this webinar hosted by Illinois Health Connect, Illinois Doc Assist consultant Diane Misch, MD reviews best practices in assessment and intervention of adolescent substance abuse within the primary care setting. At the end of this webinar, Maria Bruni, PhD – Acting Director of DHS Division of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse briefly discusses Illinois state funding and initiatives addressing the Opiod Crisis. This Webinar took place on February 23rd, 2017.
Course Goals/Objectives:
- Understand the relationship between substance use, mental illness, trauma, and mortality
- Become familiar with the new screening methodology: SBIRT
- Review CRAFFT and its uses
- Learn how to maintain a relationship with adolescents while providing medically responsible interventions in the context of a primary care practice
