The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline provides 24/7, free, confidential support before, during, and after pregnancy. The Hotline offers callers support information, resources, and referrals. English and Spanish counselors are available and interpretation in 60 languages.
Postpartum Support International

The PSI HelpLine is a toll-free telephone number anyone can call and receive information, support and resources. English and Spanish languages are available. The HelpLine is available 24 hours a day. The caller will be asked to leave a confidential message and a trained volunteer will return the call or text. The volunteer will provide information, encouragement and names of resources near the caller. The PSI HelpLine does not handle emergencies.

NorthShore University Health System offers a Perinatal Depression Program with a free, confidential hotline available 24 hours a day to patients and families for information and support. The services are free and the confidential hotline is staffed by professional counselors.

Illinois Home Visiting Collaborative

Home visiting provides family support and coaching through planned, regular visits with a trained professional. Home visiting is a voluntary program, and home visitors work with parents on practical parenting skills as well as family bonding before birth and as children grow up. Early Intervention can be a resource for new parents experiencing stress if the baby qualifies for services. Consider referring if the baby displays signs of social-emotional maladjustment, difficulties with attachment or other developmental delays. If a mother is experiencing post-partum depression or anxiety, share this with the intake worker as it may help the baby to qualify for services.
